Recounting prehistoric rainfall patterns by drilling into stalagmites requires such a degree of abstraction that it’s far easier to believe than understand. Spatiotemporal scales far exceed the human measure, and focused sensing technologies produce data for interpretation rather than extending sensation. Climate models spin backward.
